Individual support

Students and faculty of the Erasmus University may consult our financial databases and databases for the Social Sciences with the assistance of a member of the Datateam. Following the example of the London School of Economics (LSE), we call this assistance 'data surgery'. The procedure is as follows:

  • Make a reservation for an hour in the electronic calendar
  • You can make one appointment at a time.
  • You can only reserve two weeks ahead.
  • Describe your question in the 'comments' field, specify for example the kind of data you are looking for (for example stock prices, annual report data, forecasts) and/or the database you would like to use. This field isĀ required. If you do not explain your needs, we cannot confirm your appointment.
  • Enter the name of your supervisor.

You will receive a confirmation of your reservation through your ERNA email account. This is not an automatic reply, therefore it may take some time before you receive our answer. You can also check the status of your reservation in the calendar. The yellow color indicates that a reservation has been made, but that is in not yet approved. The red color indicates that the reseveration has been approved, furthermore the name of the person assisting in getting the data is shown.

Terms and conditions:

  • You can make a maximum of three appointments for this service. You should therefore be thoroughly prepared for these appointments (formulate your questions, think about criteria for your companies, M&A-deals, IPO's etc, take a look at the manuals, and gather when possible identifiers).
  • If you do not show up within ten minutes of the appointed time, the appointment will be cancelled.
  • If no valid reason can be given for breaking an appointment, you will be excluded from this service.
  • Cancellation is possible up to one hour before your scheduled appointment by phone: 010 - 408 1232 or send the EDSc an e-mail.

The appointment takes place in the Polak building, Y3.17.
