Opportunities after graduating

After graduating from MAGMa, you will be able to:

  • Evaluate and reflect on the drivers and mechanisms that govern the markets for and management of art & cultural heritage in all its forms from an international, historical and contemporary perspective;
  • Critically assess the interconnected nature of art & cultural heritage and its impact on individuals, communities, institutions, locally and globally;
  • Critically assess the social, economic, legal and cultural issues affecting the art & cultural heritage sector at the international and European level and be able to evaluate them across a full range of contexts;
  • Deploy a range of theoretical and methodological models across a range of art & cultural heritage contexts;
  • Determine solutions to developments and changes in the art & cultural heritage field;
  • Identify and respond to ethical considerations relevant to art & cultural heritage research;
  • Analyse and synthesise information drawn from a wide range of theoretical and applied models and primary and secondary sources;
  • Plan and successfully undertake extended research projects;
  • Work independently to formulate and articulate arguments with confidence.

MAGMa graduates will receive a multiple degree - four postgraduate certificates, awarded by all five institutions.

  • International Master in Managing Art and Cultural Heritage in Global Markets (University of Glasgow)
  • Master of Arts in Art Markets (Universidade de Lisboa & ISCTE)
  • Certificate of Completion, Cultural Project Administrator (IESA Arts and Culture)
  • Master of Arts in Arts and Culture Studies - Specialisation: Cultural Economics and Entrepreneurship or Tourism, Culture and Society (Erasmus University Rotterdam)

Career opportunities

The integration of academic theory with practice across an interdisciplinary curriculum will provide you with a broad skill set and experiences that makes you an informed graduate, capable of operating at strategic levels in the art and cultural and heritage sector, both public and private, or of undertaking further study.

Our graduates will be eligible to work for international organisations, such as UNESCO, world-class museums, as policy advisors for the government, or in the art market.
