Applied economist Martijn Hendriks (EHERO) obtains ZonMw grant

ZonMw has granted the Erasmus Happiness Economics Research Organisation (EHERO) and its partners 1 million euros for the project ‘Innovative interventions for strengthening the mental vitality of employees'. The project will be led by Martijn Hendriks, senior researcher at EHERO and Assistant Professor at the Department of Applied Economics of Erasmus School of Economics.

This subsidy programme is ordered by the ministries of Social Affairs and Employment and Health, Welfare and Sport. The objective is to help organisations and its employees cope with the large impact of the corona crisis on mental well-being.

As a recipient of 30% of the grant, EHERO will conduct action research to test and help maximise the effectiveness of several innovative interventions. These interventions will be implemented at six partners: ING, Nationale Nederlanden, Politievakbond ACP, JGZ, Zorggroep Elde Maasduinen, and Groba B.V. Each organisation will implement one of the following interventions: appreciative inquiry, team crafting, living labs, vitality training, action learning, and creating healthy working habits. Specialised intervention experts will be involved in the implementation process. The aim is to obtain and spread knowledge about innovative interventions that can be widely implemented to strengthen the mental vitality of employees and contribute to a healthy workforce in uncertain times.
