Being distinctive with 20 edubadges (digital certificates) on your resume, is that the future? Or are we pushing the performance orientation too far? And how do we ensure that all edubadges have the same value? This and more is covered in the CLI's first podcast about Micro credentialing (dividing education into smaller units than diplomas) and Edubadges, which is available on Spotify as of today.

At the end of 2020, the Edubadges platform was officially launched by SURFnet. Now that the technical infrastructure is ready, it is possible to look even more concretely at the implementation and added value of badges. What exactly are badges and how can they be used in education? What should we pay attention to if we want to get started with badges? What can badges possibly be issued for within Erasmus University (EUR) and for what not? What are the risks associated with these badges, around privacy and quality control, for example?

Sasker Soontiens, founder of Skill-Up, discusses these topics with Marijn van den Doel (Learning Innovation Consultant) and Sanne van der Meer (FunctionalInformation Manager). The podcast is Dutch spoken and available via Spotify here. The next two podcast will be published in the following weeks.

This podcast is the first in a series of three podcasts that provide a deep dive into topics that will feature in the annual Learning and Innovation bEURs of the Community for Learning and Innovation (CLI) of Erasmus University Rotterdam. During this event, which is organised by and for lecturers and researchers, a wide display of different educational innovations, best practices and research projects, which were realised with help of the CLI, are presented and discussed with the participants. The bEURs of 2021 will take place (digitally) on October 13. Please register, if you haven’t done so already! Visit www.eur.nl/beurs to join us and take part in different interesting workshops.
