On Tuesday June 10, Dr. Marta Herrero (University of Sheffield) will present her ongoing research at the ERMeCC lunch seminar. Disrupting institutions in art museums: corporate sponsorship, activism and emotions at Tate Galleries

The seminar will take place from 12-13 hrs in C1-2 and is open to ESHCC researchers, students and other interested parties.


Dr. Marta Herrero is Lecturer and Program Director of the MSc in Creative and Cultural Industries Management at the University of Sheffield. She joined the Cultural and Creative Industries Group in the Management School in September 2012. Prior to this, she held positions at the University of Plymouth, and the Institute for International Integration Studies (IIIS), Trinity College, University of Dublin.

Since 2010 she has been President of the Sociology of the Arts Research Committee of the International Sociological Association (ISA). Dr. Herrero is also a member of the European Group for Organizational Studies (EGOS), and the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) ,

Her primary research interest is in the economic foundations of the arts and culture sectors. Her research has been published in leading journals, includingCultural Sociology, International Sociology, Journal of Cultural Economy, andEuropean Societies. She is also on the international advisory board of Cultural Sociology. She is the author of a monograph, Irish Intellectuals and Aesthetics(Irish Academic Press), co-editor of Art and Aesthetics. Critical Concepts in the Social Sciences (4 vols), and is currently working on a second monograph, Art, Philanthropy and Society, to be published by Routledge.

 

Dr. Herrero has been the successful recipient of funding from the British Academy (2011-13), (2006-07), the Worldwide Universities Network, and the Irish Research Council for Humanities and Social Sciences.
