IWD 2021: Choose to Challenge

On this page you can find an overview of EUR's International Women’s Day celebrations 2021 (IWD 2021). Whilst Monday 8 March is the day in question, we at EUR believe that its significance and its important themes of challenging stereotypes, bias and celebrating the contribution of women extend well beyond a single day.

The 2021 IWD programme began well before 8 March, starting with a free online screening of the documentary: 'Picture a Scientist' on Friday 5 March. It also extend well beyond 8 March, with the unveiling of 'The Future of Women' : a set of mini documentaries made by the EUR community surrounding gender equity in a post-COVID world.

Nonetheless, on Monday 8 March, EUR hosted a range of events also to commemorate this important day. These events provided a platform for our community to discuss the push towards the greater gender equity that will create key societal impact.

The special programmes included a.o. Prof. Ed Brinksma, Prof. Semiha Denktaş, Dr. Vidhi Chaudri, Dr. Mark van Ostaijen, Dr. Ginie Servant-Miklos and Prof. Hanneke Takkenberg.
