Jacco Sterkenburg speaks about football discourses and racism in Florence

Media scholar Dr. Jacco Sterkenburg will give a lecture about racism and football discourses in Florence on 29 September.

Dr. Jacco van Sterkenburg was invited by the European University Institute and the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies, who have organised the workshop 'Racism, Islamophobia and Antisemitism: Interdisciplinary Perspectives'.

This is the first of the Migration Working Group series of half day workshops in 2015-16. The workshop brings together two seemingly contrasted but sadly very much inter-related phenomena of Anti-semitism and Islamophobia in Europe. It brings together new findings on anti-Semitism in Greece and Poland and a critical analysis of racism and Islamophobia in the British school system in the post war period and in European Football discourses today.
