Launch of the International Development Law Clinic

In November 2016, ISS launched the International Law and Development Clinic.

The Clinic provides advice to governments, inter-governmental organizations, lawyers, non‐governmental organizations, and others on economic, cultural, political and socio-legal questions concerning pressing legal, human rights and development issues, both in the Netherlands and abroad.

Students undertaking Masters- and Doctoral-level studies carry out research and write advice at the Clinic.

The clinic setting provides an opportunity for students to gain experiential learning through conducting research on legal and especially human rights issues arising in development contexts.

Professor Karin Arts and Dr. Jeff Handmaker are co-directors of the clinic.
