Rotterdam Summer School is the new platform which support existing and future summer school activities from institutes of higher education in Rotterdam. Both students and professionals can choose from more than 25 high quality academic courses in the summer of 2016.
Rotterdam has outstanding institutes of higher education. Over the years they have developed several summer school activities. The profiling of these summer courses, however, no longer fits with the international ambitions of both the city and institutes of higher education in Rotterdam. It is for this reason that Erasmus University Rotterdam, in collaboration with the municipality of Rotterdam, has taken the initiative to set up Rotterdam Summer School. The summer courses have been established in close collaboration with faculty of Erasmus University Rotterdam, Hogeschool Rotterdam, Codarts and Willem de Kooning Academie.
The Erasmus School of Economics hosts a number of summer courses part of the Rotterdam Summer School. Including four courses on Urban Innovation. These four courses address relevant topics for the port city Rotterdam: Future Proof Port, Resilient Delta Cities, City Branding beyond Iconic Architecture and Ecosystems for Innovation. During intensive two-week programs, students gain insight in the latest academic research and enrich their learning experience by participating in real-world cases, presented by Deloitte, Port of Rotterdam, the City of Rotterdam and Rotterdam Partners. Each of these cases challenges students to maximize their learning experience and to meet captains of industry to develop their professional networks. In addition, these summer courses offer a varied social program and housing in ‘The Student Hotel’.Â
