Niels van Poecke and Janna Michael win Graduate School Award for Best Paper

To further stimulate and reward excellence in PhD research, the Erasmus Graduate School of Social Sciences and the Humanities invited its PhD candidates and recent graduates to submit their work for the 2015 "Graduate School Award for PhD Excellence". Niels van Poecke and Janna Michael (Arts and Culture Studies) have won the award for Best Paper.

Van Poecke and Michael co-wrote the article "Bringing the Banjo Back to Life: The Field of Dutch Independent Folk Music as Participatory Culture" (pdf). The authors presented this article during the International Fan Cultures conference in December 2015. The article will soon be published in First Monday. 

The Graduate School also handed out prizes in the following categories:

  • Best PhD thesis
