Payal Arora starts ITS Global Fellowship in Brazil

Dr. Payal Arora was nominated as an ITS Global Fellow at the Institute of Technology and Society in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. She has been selected as one of the six fellows and recently started the fellowship.

Payal Arora is an Associate Professor in the Department of Media and Communication. For over a decade, she has been researching the intersection of new communication technologies, social activism, the public sphere and policy. With much fieldwork experience in India, the ITS Global Fellowship allows Payal to gain a comparative perspective and extend critical understandings across a wider cultural context regarding internet usage, privacy and ICT policy.

The fellowship is a 4-week programme that includes policy talks with both the public and the private sector including the Ministry of Culture, Brazilian Internet Steering committee, Airbnb, Facebook, and Uber among many other organizations. This fellowship started in the beginning of July.
