The Supervisory Board of Erasmus University Rotterdam has appointed Roelien Ritsema van Eck as member of the University’s Executive Board, effective 1 November 2018. She will succeed Eddy Hus, who is fulfilling this position on an interim basis. Ritsema van Eck is currently Real Estate & Facility Management Director at ABN Amro.
Roelien Ritsema van Eck (1975) will be responsible for the operational management portfolio (finance, economic policy, real estate services and information technologies) within the Executive Board. She will oversee the further development of digital support, the continued improvement of the quality of operational management and connecting of operational management with the university’s (strategic) objectives for education, research and valorisation.
Ritsema van Eck is appointed for a period of four years. The other members of the Executive Board are the President, Kristel Baele and the Rector Magnificus, Professor Rutger Engels.
Professor Corien Prins, chair of the Supervisory Board says of Ritsema van Eck: “Roelien has considerable knowledge and experience in the areas of finance, IT, operations and change processes. She is also a unifying team player, who is capable of looking beyond her own immediate portfolio.”
The Supervisory Board makes this appointment after conducting a careful and thorough search and selection procedure, in close cooperation with the representative bodies.
About Roelien Ritsema van Eck
Roelien Ritsema van Eck has worked at ABN Amro since 1999, where she has held various positions. She is currently the Bank’s Real Estate & Facility Management Director and is responsible for, among other things, ABN Amro’s strategic real estate portfolio as well as innovation with respect to digitalisation, sustainability and business intelligence.
Ritsema van Eck studied Business Administration at the University of Groningen and International Management at Oxford Brookes University. She is a member of both the Supervisory Boards of Zorggroep Sint Maarten and of Landgoed Duin & Kruidberg.
Roelien Ritsema van Eck has a partner and three daughters.
