Website Erasmus University has been hacked

The website of Erasmus University Rotterdam has been hacked. This hack may have resulted in enabling unauthorized access to personal information. We deeply regret this situation. Currently, we have no indication that information from the hacked site has actually been used. No passwords of employees and students were stored on this server.

We are now, with the assistance of external experts, thoroughly investigating the cause, nature and impact of this incident. We will provide more information once this is available.

Once, the hack was discovered, on Sunday last, immediate security measures were taken. All webforms have been taken off line temporarily and will be re-activated as soon as possible. The hack is related to the EUR-website, and does not concern the websites of ErasmusMC and RSM, Rotterdam School of Management.

This incident has been notified to the Dutch Data Protection Authority. It will also be reported to the police.
