On 19 April, Jeroen van Haaren, Urban Economist at  Erasmus School of Economics, attended an edition of Studio Erasmus to discuss whether Rotterdam is still the working city of the Netherlands. What are the latest developments?

The business city with a major port

During the event, Van Haaren talked about working conditions in the city of Rotterdam. As he has previously argued in the Backbone magazine of Erasmus School of Economics, Rotterdam is a city that has developed considerably in recent years: from a port city to a business city with a major port.

For students, too, the city has flourished in recent years: one no longer has to hide in Kralingen, but can go to many more places to live or enjoy a drink on the terrace. Read Van Haaren's article below to learn more about living, working and leisure in Rotterdam.
