Workshop: "Twitter Search API Data"

A hands-on workshop by Ericka Menchen-Trevino about using Twitter data from Twitter’s Search API on Tuesday, 21 April.

Tuesday 21 April, 12:00-13:30, M8-19 ERMeCC Digital Lab

As a follow-up to the opening of the ERMeCC Digital Lab Ericka Menchen-Trevino will provide a hands-on workshop about using Twitter data from Twitter’s Search API. The workshop will result in the first draft of a data-based blog post about a current event of your choice. Twitter’s search API can only gather tweets from the past 7-9 days so we will analyze a currently trending topic.

Participants have two options, a) gather your own data using Ornithologist—requires some setup before the workshop, b) use data gathered for the workshop—just install two or three free software tools ahead of time if you want to use your own computer to do analysis, otherwise just show up to use a lab computer.

No previous experience with social media data gathering and analysis & no methodological orientation (qual/quant) assumed or required.
