Zuid-Holland's growth agenda: Investing in our future
The Zuid-Holland Growth Agenda is a joint initiative of companies, knowledge institutes and governments in Zuid-Holland, including the Erasmus University Rotterdam, aimed at creating new jobs and sustainable business activity for the region.
"The Growth Agenda for Zuid-Holland enables us to join forces to achieve maximum social impact. This dovetails nicely with the Erasmus University's strategy. We need to invest now our society and the knowledge economy, for more innovation and ultimately more and wider shared prosperity," says Ed Brinksma President of the Executive Board, Erasmus University Rotterdam.
Invest now in research and education
In South Holland, research is done at the highest level. We need to invest in that. In talent, in campuses with test facilities and in production facilities. In this way, we create jobs, bring innovations to society more quickly and create broad prosperity. With the Growth Agenda for Zuid-Holland, we are taking advantage of the opportunities in our region to make a greater contribution to the Dutch economy and society. Together, we want to invest heavily in:
- developing people throughout their lives;
- in public transport that connects the densely urbanised area;
- in new infrastructure for renewable energy sources;
- in smart technologies and applications for companies that produce here in the region.
The national government as a partner
We can't do this alone. We are asking the national government to participate, and to tackle these important challenges together with South Holland companies, knowledge institutions and governments on the basis of a joint growth agenda. We will provide more houses, more professionals, better accessibility and infrastructure for the energy transition. Because if Zuid-Holland flourishes, the whole of the Netherlands will reap the benefits.
