dr. Z (Farzane Zahra) Zarepour

Biography

Farzane Zahra Zarepour is a Data Scientist at the Future Library Lab (FLL) of Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR) and a Visiting Researcher at the Institute of Social Studies (ISS) of EUR. Her work is motivated by the challenge of tackling societal issues at the intersection of sustainability, human capital, and well-being. Driven by a keen interest in evidence-based interventions, she conducts data-driven research to generate policy-relevant evidence and advance social and economic well-being. In her economic research, she leverages microdata and causal inference approaches to evaluate interventions, understand behavioural and market responses, and inform actionable solutions. Her primary areas of application span Human Capital (including health, food/nutrition, and labour), Sustainability, and Energy and Natural Resources.

In her capacity as a Data Scientist at the library, her work focuses heavily on computational text analysis in the area of the "science of science." She utilizes natural language processing (NLP) to harness massive amounts of textual data, generating valuable insights into academic publications, research trends, and scholarly impact.
