Biography

Joost Jansen is an Assistant Professor of Criminology at the Department of Law, Society and Crime (Erasmus University Rotterdam). His interdisciplinary and mixed-methods PhD research into the international debate on the meaning of migration, nationality and national identity in the context of sport has been published in several leading international journals. Nowadays, his research combines a focus on the history and epistemology of social statistics with an examination of how social classifications are produced and used in discourses about populations deemed risky or otherwise prone to criminal behavior.
