M (Mosisa Bekele) Degefa

Biography

Mosisa Bekele Degefa is a PhD researcher at the International Institute of Social Studies, Erasmus University Rotterdam, with a background in health economics and public health. He holds a Master of Public Health in Health Economics from Addis Ababa University and previously served as a University Lecturer at Arsi University, Ethiopia. His research focuses on evaluating health financing policies and their effects on healthcare access, financial protection, and population health, particularly in low- and middle-income countries.

His research interests include health financing and health insurance; economic burden of disease and cost-of-illness analysis; economic evaluation and cost-effectiveness analysis of health interventions; and the impact evaluation of health policies. His research aims to generate rigorous evidence to support effective, equitable, and sustainable health policy and health system decision-making in resource-constrained settings, contributing to Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being).
