Introduction

As European Alliance Mobility Coordinator, you play a key role in stimulating, coordinating and strengthening student and staff mobility within UNIC, a European University Alliance of ten universities that work together to enhance education, research and mobility, and to promote European collaboration. You will be employed by UNIC and seconded to the International Office of EUR, where you will become part of the International Mobility & Scholarships Team. You will work closely with Erasmus+ coordinators, the International Partnerships Officer, the International Student Experience Team, faculty representatives, and colleagues at UNIC partner universities.
In this role, you take a proactive and strategic approach to ensuring that UNIC achieves its mobility objectives at Erasmus University Rotterdam. You actively embed UNIC within EUR faculties and Professional Services, engaging students and staff and translating alliance ambitions into concrete mobility opportunities. You explore needs, identify barriers and opportunities, and develop a diverse, accessible and attractive portfolio of mobility formats that aligns with the academic and professional interests of students and staff.

Job description

In this role, you will:

• Stimulate and promote student and staff mobility within UNIC, including exchange under the Multilateral Agreement, and develop and coordinate additional mobility formats such as internships, summer schools, Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs), and staff weeks.
• Actively work to increase participation in UNIC mobility, ensuring that opportunities reach a broad and diverse group of EUR students and staff.
• Work closely with colleagues within the International Office and with faculty representatives to design, implement and continuously improve mobility initiatives.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders at UNIC partner universities and the UNIC Headquarters, participate in online and on-site meetings of the Mobility Working Group and other relevant expert groups within the alliance, and contribute actively to knowledge sharing.
• Participate in online and on-site meetings of the EUR Exchange Coordinators and the International Mobility & Scholarships Team, and other relevant expert groups within EUR, linked to student and staff mobility.
• Monitor, analyse and interpret mobility data and trends, report to the Head of the International Office and UNIC HQ, and use insights to improve impact and effectiveness.
• Contribute to the development and strengthening of a Community of Practice for UNIC professionals working on student and staff mobility, focused on peer learning, exchange of experience and innovation.
• Improve the visibility, accessibility and inclusiveness of international opportunities for students and staff, with particular attention to underrepresented groups.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen and expand mobility, initiate pilots, and explore additional European funding opportunities, including Erasmus+ (KA2) projects.
• Recruit, select, onboard and support UNIC Student Ambassadors, and coordinate their involvement in promotion, events and outreach activities across EUR.

You also bring:

• A completed higher professional education (HBO) degree or an equivalent level of thinking and working.
• Solid knowledge of Erasmus+ mobility programmes.
• Proven experience in internationalisation and/or student and staff mobility.
• Strong communication, organisational and networking skills.
• The ability to engage, motivate and connect.
• A creative, proactive and solution-oriented mindset.
• Decisiveness, flexibility and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent command of English and Dutch (minimum B2/C1).

It is an advantage if you also have experience working with European University Alliances or international partnerships. 

Employment conditions and benefits

We offer you an internationally oriented and varied job in an enthusiastic team, with excellent working conditions in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU).

The start date of this position is 02-MAR-2026 and your contract is with UNIC (part of Strategy Office, General Management Directorate (ABD), you will be seconded to the International Office EUR, part of Education and Student Affairs (E&S).

 This position is for 0.8 fte - 1 fte. The salary is dependent on your experience and knowledge and ranges from a minimum of € 3.546 to a maximum of € 5.538 gross per month Scale 10 on a fulltime basis (38 hours), in accordance with the CAO-NU. The contract is offered for a period of this funding cycle (30 September 2027).

The General Management Directorate

The General Management Directorate (Algemene Bestuursdienst, ABD) is the central staff organisation responsible for the organisation and support of EUR’s policy and administration at the institutional level. ABD supports the Executive Board in fulfilling its responsibilities with regard to the quality, accessibility and financing of EUR’s education and research programmes. ABD handles the joint design of integrated policy, ensures the timely submission of policy within decision-making procedures and the implementation of the adopted policy measures and constantly monitors and evaluates developments in the interest of further improvement. ABD comprises the departments of Academic Affairs (AZ), Corporate Planning & Control (CPC), Administrative Affairs (BZ), Legal Affairs (JZ) and Strategy Office (SO). The independent university publication Erasmus Magazine also falls under ABD in organisational terms. The management directorate is headed by the Director of the General Management Directorate, who also serves as Secretary of the Executive Board.

The Strategy Office guides EUR in its transition to an impact-oriented university and works together with the entire organization to achieve the strategic objectives.

The UNIC Head Quarter team consist of around 10 employees. The team is diverse on several dimensions, has an informal culture with open lines of communication among the team members. The team is passionate about the future of education in Europe, and has a can-do attitude.

Group

The EUR International Office promotes, facilitates, and supports incoming and outgoing mobility of Erasmus University students and staff. The team of approximately 20 fte is responsible for informing and guiding international students throughout key phases of their student journey, including assessing diplomas, advising on scholarships, facilitating the immigration process, and organizing a warm welcome. In addition, the International Office manages over 50 university-wide exchange agreements and works closely with faculty exchange officers to create impactful international experiences for EUR students and staff.
