Introduction

The University Library is seeking a Faculty Liaison and Team Lead Information Specialists: a combined role in which you bring together subject-matter expertise and inspiring leadership.

As a Faculty Liaison (FL), you are a strong strategic partner and the face of the University Library for the Erasmus School of Health Policy & Management (ESHPM) and for the discipline of Pedagogical Sciences within the Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Sciences (ESSB).

In addition, as Team Lead, you manage a team of information specialists whose primary focus is education in information literacy.

Job description

Faculty Liaison

As a Faculty Liaison, you are responsible for maintaining and strengthening relationships between the University Library and your assigned faculties.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for academic and support staff within the faculties
  • Actively promote University Library services and exchange relevant information
  • Attend faculty meetings and consultative bodies
  • Identify developments in research and education and translate these into library services
  • Assess needs for (new) services and communicate these internally
  • Collection management, including:
    • Acquisition of research and teaching materials
    • Evaluation of journal and database subscriptions
    • Management of the collection budget
    • Liaising with publishers
  • Actively contribute to university library–wide projects relevant to the faculties
  • Provide training and one-on-one support in information literacy and maintain subject-specific online guides (LibGuides)

Team Lead Information Specialists

As Team Lead, you manage the Information Specialists team and contribute to its continued development and professionalisation, as well as to the further enhancement of the service offering.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Provide direct leadership to a team of five information specialists
  • Support team members in their personal and professional development, including through development interviews
  • Promote effective collaboration within the team
  • Improve and innovate processes with users at the centre
  • Monitor developments in the field of information literacy and translate these into a current and relevant offering
  • Supervise the implementation of the annual plan and contribute to the development of the new annual plan
  • Contribute to strategic workforce planning
  • Work closely with fellow Faculty Liaisons and actively seek collaboration

You will report to the Head of Library Education Support.

Job requirements

We are looking for a communicatively strong colleague who readily takes initiative. In addition, you bring the following:

  • A completed academic degree, preferably in a social science discipline
  • Knowledge of and affinity with information literacy
  • Experience with research and knowledge transfer, for example to students or researchers
  • Demonstrable leadership experience with a people-centred leadership style
  • Excellent communication skills in both Dutch and English (C1 level)

We offer you an internationally oriented and varied job in an enthusiastic team, with excellent working conditions in accordance with the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO-NU).

The start date of this position will be agreed upon and you will be based at Campus Woudestein - Rotterdam at the University Library (UL). This position is for 1 fte. The salary is dependent on your experience and knowledge and ranges from a minimum of € 4.728 to a maximum of € 6.433 gross per month (scale 11) on a fulltime basis (38 hours), in accordance with the CAO-NU. The contract is offered for a period of 1 year and can be converted into an employment contract for an indefinite period if suitability is proven and if continued in the same position, if (financial and/or organizational) circumstances remain the same.

Group

The Library Education Support Department

This department supports education at the university in the broadest sense. It consists of the Front Desk Team, the Information Specialists Team (which you will lead), and three Faculty Liaisons (of which you will be one).

The department provides services in areas such as information literacy, the use of teaching materials within copyright regulations, responsible use of Generative AI, and the availability and use of Open Educational Resources.

The department works closely with colleagues from other teams and departments, both within and outside the University Library.
