The Education Lab is the beating heart of the Community for Learning & Innovation. It’s located on the ground floor of the Polak Building and has a state-of-the-art studio for online education. The lab is the meeting spot for both lecturers and students as well as support staff who wish to collaborate in educational innovation. Workshops and inspirational sessions are organized frequently.
How to use the lab & studio?
The studio-area consists of a large recording studio and two smaller DIY-booths. There's also a make-up room, an editing room, and a directing room. The studio can be used by lecturers, support staff and students that are working on innovating education, but is also available for other projects.

The large recording studio can be used for recording with and without an audience. For example the recording of knowledge clips, the production of MOOCS, the recording of small-scale talk shows with the possibility of a live connection, and hosting podcasts.
The studio-area contains two DIY-booths meant for autonomous recording. Just bring your script and your PowerPoint and you're ready to go.
The lab-area contains various spaces that can be used for small inspiration sessions and didactic training. There’s an event platform that can be used for activities up to 30 people. The facilities of the lab are available for lecturers, support staff and students that are working on innovating education.

You should submit a request to use the lab for your event or session by completing the web form at the bottom of this page.
The event room contains a large staircase that's able to seat up to 30 people. This room is equipped with a beamer, a screen (HDMI connection) and two microphone connections.
The training room is a sound-proof room that facilitates 8 people. The room is equipped with a flipped screen that can connect to your laptop (HDMI and wireless to windows laptops).
The lab contains three inspiration rooms, where up to 8 people can have informal sessions. All three rooms are equipped with flip screens that can connect to your laptop (HDMI and wireless to windows laptops).
Link with educational innovation
To use the Education Lab rooms, your session or event must have a clear link with educational innovation. Indicate this clearly in the description of your event in the web form at the bottom of the page.
Take into account that the rooms in the lab only allow for a limited number of people. The room capacity is described above under the heading ‘rooms’.
The event must take place within standard opening hours (9.00 - 17.00). We also adhere to a maximum of 2 hours per booking.
The person/department making the booking must be associated with Erasmus University.
If you want catering for your event or session, you can indicate this in the web form at the bottom of the page. Don’t forget to add your department’s budget number. If you require a more luxurious variant of the standard catering, this can be indicated under ‘other comments’. Please also inform us of any dietary requirements.
No costs are charged to faculties and support departments within Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR). Costs do apply to EUR BVs that use the rooms.
The lab is not a standard meeting room, you should contact Rooms and Facility Bookings (email@example.com) if you wish to hold a meeting. However, if your meeting focuses on educational innovation, you can book the lab. You should explain this on the web form at the bottom of the page.
The lab can unfortunately not be used for drinks or dinners. The lab is intended as an educational area. If you wish to arrange drinks, please contact the campus catering facilities.
It is possible to arrange lunch during your event. If you wish to do this, please add your budget number to the web form at the bottom of the page.
As a student, you can discuss your educational innovation ideas at Students-for-Students (S4S). S4S offers financial support to various student projects. These projects can use the lab for their events and inspiration sessions. Their website contains more details on how to obtain support as well as about the existing projects.
The Education Lab can only be booked by parties that are connected with Erasmus University. However, you are welcome to take a tour of the lab. Enquire about the possibilities by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
