Abstract

In this talk, Kenneth Bruninx will reflect on how we define and assess resource adequacy in the European electricity system, and whether these approaches are still appropriate for systems with a high share of renewable energy. He will discuss his view on the need for capacity renumeration mechanisms to trigger sufficient investments in back-up capacity, illustrate how we study these issues in my research group and reflect on some research gaps in this domain.
