Abstract

Human behavioral traits have long been known to be heritable, yet only recent advances in molecular genetics have allowed us to directly link DNA variation to individual differences in work-related behaviors. This talk presents a series of studies that move from classical twin designs to candidate gene analyses and, ultimately, to whole-genome approaches. Topics include leadership, job satisfaction, vocational interests, and job attainment. Together, these studies illustrate how behavior genetics can deepen our understanding of organizational behavior by revealing the biological foundations that interact with environmental and psychological factors at work.
