Thesis supervision

The Expert Group on Health & Care Regulation supervises bachelor’s and master’s students conducting thesis research on topics related to health and care regulation. We welcome students from various academic backgrounds with an interest in regulatory challenges. Previous theses have addressed issues such as sexual misconduct in healthcare and the development of a “just culture” in regulatory contexts.

Our thesis supervision is closely connected to our research approach. We work with healthcare regulators, often using qualitative, action-oriented methods such as interviews and observations. Students are encouraged to engage with stakeholders and explore how regulation works in practice—across different levels of the healthcare system. Projects may contribute to developing regulatory models, exploring themes like network regulation, or examining the impact of regulation on care quality and safety. Through this, students help generate insights that are relevant both to theory and to improving regulatory practice.
