Jing Hiah becomes member of the Young Erasmus Academy of the Erasmus University

Jing Hiah

Jing Hiah, Assistant Professor of Criminology at Erasmus School of Law, has been offered a membership of the Young Erasmus Academy (YEA) by Rector Magnificus of the Erasmus University Rotterdam EUR, as nominated by Erasmus School of Law. Hiah will be one of the six new members the network for young researchers welcomes.

Jing Hiah has been a researcher and lecturer at Erasmus School of Law since 2012. She was an Assistant Professor of Sociology, Theory, and Methodology from 2019 until 2022 and has been an Assistant Professor of Criminology at the School since 2021. She is a research associate at the Erasmus Initiative ‘Dynamics of Inclusive Prosperity’ and a member of the EUR Research group for platform labour. Currently, she teaches the minor ‘Criminology’ and researches inequalities and labour relations in paid domestic work in the platform economy at the University of Bristol. For this research, Hiah received a Rubicon fellowship from the Dutch Research Council (NWO) in 2021. Hiah coordinates a working group within the European research network EU COST Action Platform Work Inclusion Living Lab, where she, in collaboration with more than 200 researchers and stakeholders, promotes inclusion and social rights in the platform economy. 

Young Erasmus Academy

YEA is a network for young researchers and represents a broad spectrum of academic disciplines and scholarly work at the Erasmus University Rotterdam. YEA aims to provide a foundation for and strengthen a network of excellent researchers at the Erasmus University Rotterdam, interdisciplinary partnerships and contacts between researchers, and the profile of Erasmus University Rotterdam within the public domain. In addition, YEA advises the Executive Board on academic- and research-related policy matters.

As a member of YEA, Hiah is keen to promote open and societally engaged academic research and education.
