Enrolment
To start your programme, you must be fully enrolled. You can check the status of your application via Osiris by logging in with your ERNA credentials (which you received by email immediately after registering). Has your status in Studielink changed to enrolled? Congratulations, you have completed all the steps!
Not yet fully enrolled?
To complete your enrolment, you must finish a number of steps as soon as possible (at the latest before the start of the academic year).
Important to know
The official start of the academic year is on 31 August 2026. The first introductory lecture may already take place in the week before. Teaching also starts in the week of 31 August.

You have received your personal ERNA username and password from Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR), which you can use to log in to the electronic learning environment MyEUR and MyEUR ESPhil. Via MyEUR you will also gain access to your student mailbox; we use your EUR email address to send important information about your studies. We recommend checking your EUR mail regularly, or forwarding the emails to your regular email address.
Within two weeks of your enrolment status in Studielink changing to 'enrolled', you will receive a digital student card and will be able to download a proof of enrolment.
The academic year generally begins at the start of September and ends at the end of August of the following year. The academic year is divided into blocks. For an overview including periods with no teaching, see the Academic Year Calendar ESPhil
All required literature can be found in the course description via courses.eur.nl or within the course in Canvas. Throughout your studies, most literature is available digitally or can be found in the University Library (UB). Make sure you have obtained all required literature before the course begins.
Campus Woudestein is the central hub of Erasmus University Rotterdam. The modern campus is located 15 minutes by bike (or 20 minutes by tram/metro) from the city centre. During your studies at ESPhil, most of your teaching will take place on campus.
ESPhil is located in the Bayle building on the fifth floor (abbreviation: J5).
For courses and resits you need to register via Osiris.
Registering for courses and exams
Students must register for their courses in Osiris before the first lectures begin. The process is as follows:
- Look up the course codes for the courses you want to take in the Course Guide.
- Go to Osiris Student and select "Inschrijven" (Register).
- Then choose 'cursus' (course).
- Enter the code in the "Inschrijven voor cursus" field and click "Bevestig inschrijving" (Confirm registration).
- You will receive a confirmation of your registration(s) in Osiris by email.
Please note that your registration in Osiris will be processed overnight, meaning you will have access to the Canvas page of the course the following day.
Registering for resits
Students must register separately for resits. This is done in the same way as for the regular course and exam. Please refer to the Teaching and Examination Regulations for the maximum number of resits you are permitted to take.
On My.eur.nl (login with ERNA ID required) you will find all the information you need once you are fully enrolled as a student and are about to begin your studies.
The following information can be found on MyEUR ESPhil, for example:
- Compensation scheme.
- Resits.
- Registering for exams or practicals.
- Rules and Regulations (R&R) of your faculty; ESPhil.
- MyEUR is the most up-to-date source for curriculum information.
- Etc.
The admission offer you receive from us is valid for one year. Should you wish to begin your programme a year later, we can defer your admission once. You will then need to re-enrol for the following academic year (using exactly the same procedure and documents). Do not forget to include a scan or copy of the admission offer — the "conditionally/unconditionally admitted" email — with your supporting documents.

The Eurekaweek is a voluntary introduction week organised by Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR). The Eurekaweek 2026 will take place from 17 to 19 August. For more information, see the EUR website about the Eurekaweek.
ERA is the faculty association of Erasmus School of Philosophy. ERA organises activities for everyone connected to the faculty — students, staff, and alumni alike. Some activities are also open to a wider audience. Regular activities include monthly drinks and pub lectures, where an interesting speaker discusses a topic they are passionate about. In addition, ERA organises study trips, film evenings, study- and career-related activities, and other events. ERA members can order their textbooks at a significant discount and receive the faculty magazine Twijfel free of charge by post. Moreover, you can become an active member of ERA by signing up for a committee, the board, or another role!
