The master programme Cultural Economics and Entrepreneurship has been going strong for fifteen years. Time to celebrate, to reflect on what is accomplished and to look ahead. Time to bring together alumni, current master students, former and current lecturers and all those who share our enthusiasm. Join us on Friday 21 September 2018 from 13:00 onwards at Erasmus University Rotterdam.

Fifteen years ago, the time seemed ripe for a master on the economics of art and culture. After all, researchers at Erasmus University Rotterdam were making their mark in the field of cultural economics, at a time when the interest in the creative economy was just beginning to grow. We decided to set up an international program – the first in our faculty - and to include cultural entrepreneurship. We started modestly the first year, but saw the number of applicants increase steadily. The reputation of the program spread quickly and widely, and we gained recognition through rankings and visibility at international conferences and other events. This helped to attract talented students and staff from all over the world.

We now want to take the opportunity to bring our alumni together, to develop the network so that everyone who has been part of our program can benefit. We want to tap into the stories of our alumni, get inspired by new developments, and by the latest research. And of course, we wish to catch up with old friends and make new ones.

Ruth Towse, the first coordinator of the course, Elena Bird, one of our successful alumni, and Olav Velthuis who has followed us closely, will be among the speakers. You can download the full programme below.
