Attention. We all want to focus on the things we deem important, but that is not such an easy task nowadays. With constant talk of the social media driven ‘attention-economy’, shortening attention spans, and continuous distracting stimuli from our devices; it is not strange that we have great difficulties staying focused. But how do attention and concentration actually work? Is it even possible to focus on several things at the same time? And: What are proven ways to stay focused in these times of great distraction?

During Attention, Please! Dutch attention-expert dr. Stefan van der Stigchel will tell you all you need to know about attention and concentration. He will explain the inner workings of focus, combat myths on the topic, and teach us strategies to remain focused on the tasks we deem worthwhile and important. Pay attention, and you will never have to worry about not paying attention ever again! 

Stefan van der Stigchel is Professor of Cognitive Psychology at the Department of Experimental Psychology at Utrecht University and principal researcher of the research group AttentionLab. He has extensively researched the topic of attention and concentration and wrote the books How Attention Works (2019), Concentration (2020), and Grip Op Je Aandacht (2020).
