Erasmus University Rotterdam wants to mirror the diversity of our city Rotterdam in different aspects, but how do we shape our education to match this ambition? What makes education inclusive? Moreover, how can we make inclusive education happen? To honor the week of education and accessibility, the D&I Office is hosting a panel on inclusive education. Join the dialogue, and share your opinion, vision and experience!

Ramses Singeling, Newsroom Editor-in-Chief at EUR, will moderate this discussion. Joined by four speakers of various backgrounds who will share their stories, speaking to and with the audience:

  • Kristel de Groot, has experienced first-hand what it is like to be a student with a functional impairment, and is currently doing a PhD research about the impact of functional impairments on student's success and experiences at
    university.
  • Nizar El Manouzi, a student of medicine and philosophy, believes the environment in which you study is determinative for success in your study. He aims to make the university more inclusive. One of his core ideals, showing sincere interest in human beings, reflects in this ambition.
  • Marieke Meeuwisse, has a Ph.D. in Educational Sciences, and is appointed the Comenius Teaching Fellow in the field of equal opportunities for HE students. Her main research theme is (ethnic) diversity in higher education. Marieke is a member of the EUR Diversity Workgroup and also member of the Taskforce “The Future is Diversity”.
  • Karim Amghar, teacher/trainer/coach, through his company WijWijs he often works on projects in education about diversity, polarization and radicalization. Karim also talks about these themes in TV programs like DWDD and RTL Late Night. ‘’The more connected we are as a society and the more equal opportunities we have in our society, the fewer challenges we have to defy as a society.’’
