Dutch National Student Orchestra plays Mahler’s 5th Symphony

The Dutch National Student Orchestra (NSO) will play a unique program at De Doelen on February 24. Under the direction of Frans-Aert Burghgraef, the 90 talented members of the NSO will perform Gustav Mahler's magnificent 5th symphony. Before the intermission, the orchestra will play a commissioned piece by Sílvia Lanao incorporating music by none other than Alma Mahler. These songs will be sung by soprano Lilian Farahani. Make some noise for this enthusiastic, ambitious orchestra!

More information about the NSO:
Every year this orchestra unites approximately 90 students from all over the country. For the participants, who get selected through auditions, the NSO represents a unique chance of performing like a professional musician. In February the NSO rehearses for ten consecutive days, in preparation for 13 days of high-level performing in major concert halls in the Netherlands and abroad.
