Festive Opening Conference of the new LDE Centre Governance of Migration and Diversity. At this conference the new LDE Centre GMD will be launched on May, 15th. A variety of scholars, policymakers and civil society organisations gather to discuss how governance can contribute to inclusive societies and how we can deal with the challenges and opportunities offered by migration and migration-related diversities
Migration and migration-related diversities are amongst the most complex governance challenges today. This is nothing new; migration has been at the heart of societal transformations in the past and is likely to remain so in the future. In fact, the rise of ‘superdiversity’ takes the importance of migration and diversity to a next level.
LDE Centre Governance of Migration and Diversity
Understanding this complexity requires contributions from across various academic disciplines and demands a focus that connects the history and the present, and the local to the national and the global. Therefore, the University of Leiden, Delft University of Technology and Erasmus University Rotterdam have agreed to work together in the LDE Centre Governance of Migration and Diversity to mobilize robust knowledge to understand the complexities of migration and diversity. The three universities are amongst the most diverse universities in the world while being located in some of the most diverse cities in the world, shaped by migration and migration-related diversities throughout their histories.
