Will you go for the cheapest buy or for a more expensive item with green labels and sustainability claims? And is this any different when it’s not you but our university making a purchase? Join us for a drink and an open discussion with an expert panel. Influence how our university does sustainability and gain more knowledge to apply in your own life as well!

The conversation will be started with opening statements from our speakers. Dr. Jolien Grandia is an expert on sustainable procurement and public management, while Tristan Algera is founder and COO of PackBack. PackBack’s mission is to end the piles of single use waste created by to go consumption of food and drinks. Their solution consists of a digital and physical infrastructure that enables the circulation of reusable packaging in an efficient and user-friendly way. Together with EUR they are setting up a pilot with catering companies on campus. Head of procurement Michèle Belgraver is joining us as well to discuss how sustainability is already considered with buying for EUR. Finally, Julia Mancewicz is fashion manager at the Erasmus Sustainability Hub and will share her expertise on how to buy more sustainably yourself. After the speakers’ first thoughts we will open a plenary discussion with the audience. Dr. Yogi Hendlin, philosopher and connected to virtually every sustainability project on campus, will moderate the discussion.

Doors will open at 15:30 so you’re welcome to grab a drink before we start. After the plenary discussion we will move to the terrace outside if the weather allows to continue the conversation with some vegan bitterballen. Members from the EUR Sustainability Programme, DIT platform, LDE Centre for Sustainability Students, and Erasmus Sustainability Hub will be there to help you find out what’s already happening at EUR and how you can join in the sustainability action.

Registration is not required but helps us to make sure we have enough drinks and snacks for everyone!
