You feel stressed when meeting with your supervisors. You are stressing more about a deadline instead of actually working towards it. Your ongoing stream of thoughts often keeps you awake. You don’t really listen to other people, as you are lost in your thoughts. You love what you do, but don’t actually enjoy it.

Sounds familiar? You might be a procrastinator. Join the workshop and see if you can benefit from the tips & tricks that will be shared by Samia El Kaddouri.

Procrastination vs. thinking
Our brain believes that thinking about stuff helps us to find solutions and control the things around us. It helps us to take a step back, analyze what is happening and choose the best way to act.  Although that is true, thinking might switch to procrastination. Procrastination is defined as the action of delaying or postponing something. The amount of thinking leads up to over-worrying and thus not taking action, which then results in more worries.

While most academics value their rational approach to things, procrastination often leads to an emotional response. You start to feel unhappy, unsatisfied, scared or insecure as a result of this ‘rational’ approach. Many people find it difficult to deal well with this tangle of emotions.

Procrastination won’t change over time. It needs directed attention and action. In this course you learn how to deal with procrastination.

The workshop
This workshop is a fine-tuned meeting that helps you to look at your thoughts and actions from a helicopter-view, to understand where it is helpful what you do and where you benefit from changing what you do. We’ll talk about other ways to deal with insecurities and fears, so you can stress less about things such as deadlines or meetings with your supervisor and direct that energy towards action.
