Below is a brief summary of the dissertation:
Aortic aneurysm repair is the most effective treatment option for patients with either an intact (non-ruptured) aneurysm or a ruptured aneurysm. In 2013, the Dutch Surgical Aneurysm Audit (DSAA) was established to monitor and improve the actual quality of Dutch aneurysm care. In this thesis, it is evaluated whether treatment outcomes of abdominal aortic aneurysm care have improved since the introduction of the DSAA. Also, the outcomes of octogenarians following abdominal aortic aneurysm repair in both intact and ruptured setting are examined. Moreover, the nationwide outcomes following complex EVAR are described, including an association between hospital volume and perioperative mortality, and new opportunities for feedback and outcome measurement are discussed..
