Dissertation in short:

This dissertation contains three empirical studies that examine the effects of buyside preferences and frictions on the issuance and pricing of corporate bonds.  Understanding corporate bond markets and its sources of fragility is very important, as many companies are relying on corporate bonds for the financing of their operations.
