Since the development of the well-known Thrifty phenotype hypothesis in the 1980's, a new scientific insight was revealed, suggesting that maternal nutrition and lifestyle behaviors during pregnancy have impact on health in later life. Since it is known that many adverse birth outcomes originate in the periconception period, in this thesis we have investigated the impact of nutrition and lifestye behavior on periconception outcomes and to what extend these behaviors can be improved by mHealth coaching.
Due to corona, the PhD defences do not take place publicly in the usual way in the Senate Hall of the Professor Andries Querido Room. The candidates will defend their dissertation either in a small group or online.
