Brief summary on the aim of the doctoral thesis:

Exploring brain-wide circuits during complex motor tasks marks an exciting phase in neuroscientific research. At the core of this exploration lies understanding the cerebellum’s role in orchestrating goal-directed behavior. The overarching goal of this dissertation is to elucidate how the cerebellum, along with interconnected brain regions like the motor cortex, help us plan, initiate and execute movements. To understand more about cerebellar roles in goal-directed behaviour, advanced methods are used like tracing brain connections, recording brain activity, and controlling neuronal activity with light in mice.

This dissertation comprises five chapters, each focusing on different aspects of cerebellar function and its contributions to goal-directed behavior. These chapters explore the formation of intricate anatomical connections and functional networks associated with the cerebellum.
