In this thesis, posterior involvement in tibial plateau fractures is identified as a poor prognostic factor for patient reported outcome. Different single center and multicenter cohorts with posterior tibial plateau fractures are reviewed to identify common factors influencing the outcome. Classification methods including trauma mechanism based differentiation and the use of 3D reconstruction for preoperative planning are investigated. A review of the current literature provides guidance in surgical planning of these often difficult fractures. Finally, the new ‘WAVE posterior proximal tibial plate’ is evaluated for feasibility and safety.

The PhD defences will not take place publicly in the usual way. A live stream link has been provided to candidate. The ceremony will begin exactly at 10:30.
