On Wednesday 27 January 2021, J.E. Kreijne will defend her PhD dissertation, entitled: ‘Safety and Efficacy of Inflammatory Bowel Disease Treatment – a challenging balance’.
This thesis aimed at providing more insight into several safety aspects, efficacy and opportunities with current immunosuppressive treatment in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). First we explored risk factors for therapy withdrawal due to ineffectiveness or adverse events. Second, we focussed on the risk of cervical dysplasia and cervical cancer in IBD and the role of immunosuppressive therapy in these extra-intestinal complications. Finally, we explored opportunities in treatment and monitoring of IBD patients.
Due to corona, the PhD defences do not take place publicly in the usual way in the Senate Hall or in the Professor Andries Querido Room. The candidates will defend their dissertation either in a small group or online.
