Brief summary on the aim of the doctoral thesis:
Respiratory infections are a major cause of morbidity and mortality in humans worldwide. The COVID-19 outbreak demonstrated the importance of better understanding respiratory viruses, both their distribution, pathogenesis and options for prevention and treatment. This thesis describes infection models for the development of new interventions against viral respiratory infections, including with human parainfluenza virus type 3 (HPIV3), the morbilliviruses: measles virus (MeV), canine distemper virus (CDV) and Peste-des-Petits-Ruminants virus (PPRV), as well as SARSCoV-2.
