Below is a brief summary of the dissertation:

Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) is a type of blood cancer characterized by the accumulation of monoclonal, mature B cells. CLL is well known for its clinical heterogeneity: while some patients need therapy at the moment of diagnosis, others may go years or even decades without treatment. In addition, while generally responding well to treatment, the duration of remission in CLL is highly variable. In this thesis, I have used several molecular techniques to better characterize this heterogeneity, in order to achieve more accurate prognostic stratification of CLL patients before, during and after treatment.
