On 15 December 2021, R.A. Trindade Tomé Marques Alves will defend his PhD dissertation, entitled: ‘Information Transmission in Finance: Essays on Commodity Markets, Sustainable Investing, and Social Networks’.
This dissertation consists of three empirical essays that study information transmission in nancial markets and the corporate world. In Chapter 2 I study the information content of commodity futures returns with respect to stock markets around the world. Chapter 3 provides a systematic analysis of whether or not ESG ratings have information about future stock returns. In Chapter 4 I examine how information about corporate social responsibility practices spreads across the business world through the social networks of corporate executives and directors. Chapter 5 consists of concluding remarks.
The public defence will take place at the Senate Hall, 1st floor Erasmus Building, location campus Woudestein. The ceremony will begin exactly at 10.30 AM. In light of the solemn nature of the ceremony, we recommend that you do not take children under the age of 6 to the first part of the ceremony.
