Below is a brief summary about the dissertation:
The focus of this thesis was to validate the 4D Flow MRI and test its applicability in various clinical scenarios of adult CHD. In Part I, the sequence was validated against echocardiography for qualitative grading of aortic regurgitation, against the standard CMR for pulmonary flow quantification and against simultaneous invasive hemodynamic measurements in a swine study. In Part II, the clinical applications in simple CHD such as ASD and in complex CHD such as Fontan patients are tested. In Part III, advanced metrics are obtained from 4D Flow: wall shear stress and global longitudinal strain.
