Below is a brief summary about the dissertation:
This thesis describes four studies that explored student performance and stress perception levels taking into account student characteristics as well as the environment of the student: the medical school and the societal environment. The studies in this thesis investigated whether student demographics, such as gender and ethnicity, and student characteristics, such as social support and self-regulated learning, were associated with academic performance and stress perception. Also, factors on the medical school or societal level and their associations with student performance and stress were studied. More specifically, medical school selection methods, assessment policies, and the COVID-19 outbreak were taken into consideration, combined with student characteristics to get a more complete picture of how the student and their environment interact.
