Whether you’re new to tools like LSEG Workspace, WRDS, or Morningstar, or looking to refine your data extraction and analysis skills, these workshops provide practical guidance and step-by-step demonstrations.
The workshops are organized by theme, such as mergers & acquisitions, ceo & board characteristics, annual report data, and stock prices. In addition, students and staff can request workshops tailored to their specific research or coursework needs.

Regular workshops
This workshop is designed for students and researchers interested in working with company fundamentals, market data, and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) metrics. It provides practical guidance on accessing and using relevant datasets.
Workshop focus
You will learn how to:
- Access and navigate LSEG Workspace, including Datastream.
- Understand the coverage of available data, including:
- Annual report figures;
- Stock prices and market indices;
- ESG scores and metrics.
- Work with financial identifiers to ensure accurate data matching and analysis.

You will learn how to:
- Access relevant databases both on-campus and remotely;
- Select the appropriate database for your research topic;
- Understand the coverage and structure of available data;
- Work with financial and organizational identifiers;
- Download and prepare data for analysis.

- Orbis.

This hands-on workshop is designed for researchers and students working with financial datasets who want to improve their data handling skills and prepare for event studies using advanced tools.
Workshop focus
You will learn how to:
- Understand and work with company identifiers (e.g. tickers, ISIN codes, CUSIP codes etc.)
- Their purpose and relevance;
- Common issues and how to resolve them.
- Use Stata for:
- Merging datasets;
- Handling duplicates;
- Reshaping data.
- Use Python to access data via the LSEG Workspace API.
