Discover the literary and cultural activities of the University Library (UL).
Reading is more than just relaxation – it helps reduce stress, stimulates creativity, and contributes to your mental well-being. At the library, we believe in the power of books and offer you the space to develop both intellectually and personally.
Join our book clubs and Creative Writing workshops, get inspired by engaging lectures, and discover the latest fiction and non-fiction through the Libby app. Listen to fellow students share their reading experiences in our podcast and browse our book market. Enrich your perspective—the UL is here for you.

Book clubs
Meet your fellow students at the Reading Without Borders Book Club. Four times a year, we select a book from the RWB collection to read and discuss together.
Each book discussion is guided by an experienced book club host from the University Library, along with one of the student hosts from the Living Room. In the cozy setting of the Living Room, we exchange reading experiences and personal insights.
Interviews with international authors

Each year, an international author is invited, such as Alejandro Zambra, Paulina Flores, and Pilar Quintana in previous editions. Come and listen to the interviews and hear authors talk about their work.

The library—especially the Rotterdamsch Leeskabinet—receives many donations from individuals. Duplicate copies are sold for charity at our large annual book market. In recent years, half of the proceeds have gone to the UAF foundation, which supports refugee students.
