The textbook "Econometric Methods with Applications in Business and Economics" has exceeded the boundary of 10,000 sold copies. After 12 years, this was the reason for the authors Christiaan Heij, Paul de Boer, Philip Hans Franses, Teun Kloek and Herman van Dijk to toast this amazing feat.

Philip Hans Franses talking about the book that was first published by Oxford University Press in 2004: ‘Originally, we intended to write a book of around 200 pages, but it eventually became nearly 800. The fact that the book is currently being used in education in over 200 places in the world is really fantastic!'

There was more to celebrate. During the Opening of the Academic Year 2016-2017, Christiaan Heij was presented with the prestigious University Education Prize for his prominent contribution to the development of the Massive Online Open Course ‘Econometrics: Methods and Applications’. This MOOC is based on the 2004 textbook and, with 42,000 participants, very successful. For emeritus professor Teun Kloek, who recently celebrated his 82nd birthday, it was nearly 50 years since he got his PhD under supervision of Henri Theil, one of the world’s most famous econometricians and founder of the Econometric Institute. And for Philip Hans Franses, it was 25 years since he obtained his PhD., … under supervision of Teun Kloek!
