Business Administration at the Rotterdam School of Management scores #1 in this year’s Subject Rankings of The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), also known as Shanghai Ranking. This means Business Administration at Erasmus University Rotterdam is assessed as the best in the annual Shanghai Subject Rankings.
While Business Administration is ranked first, other research subjects at Erasmus University Rotterdam are also ranked high in this prestigious ranking list:
- Public Administration (Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Science), third place
- Management (the Erasmus Research Institute of Management, a partnership between the Erasmus School of Economics and Rotterdam School of Management), fourth place
“This is great news, indeed. It reflects and pays off the steady emphasis on quality of research and education by our academic staff and our leadership at school level"
Frank van der Duijn Schouten
Interim Rector Magnificus
"It also shows that Erasmus University Rotterdam is becoming a world player on its fields of expertise, which benefits our students and alumni in the first place", continues Van der Duijn Schouten.
The annual Subject Rankings of The Academic Ranking of World Universities, also known as Shanghai Ranking, are based on the number of scientific articles in the subject area, the impact of the publications, international collaboration, the number of publications in top journals in the subject field (journals listed by the Shanghai Ranking), and the number of staff winning a significant award in the subject field.
The list of the world’s 500 best universities is published annually by Shanghai Jiao Tong University and is therefore called the Shanghai ranking. The ARWU ranking is drawn up on the basis of the number of Nobel prizes, Fields Medals awarded to staff members and alumni and the number of citations and articles published in the scientific journals Nature and Science.
