Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam is concerned about the developments in Iran

Erasmus University Rotterdam is following the developments in Iran. We are concerned about academic freedom. The latest attacks by Iranian police on students and staff protesting at Tehran's Sharif University have brought this matter even closer to home.

Free exchange of scientific perspectives and enhancing the open debate - among scientists, but also with students and with society - are crucial components of academic freedom. Scientists have a responsibility for each other's and others' freedom of expression. We are committed to the protection of freedom of expression for women, students and scientists in Iran and anywhere in the world. From our Erasmian values and during this diversity week, we see it as our duty to speak up about this.
